About us
From an idea to technology leader
When Herbert Baumgartner in the late ’70s decided to set up his own business, he relied on two things: His knowledge and experience in the development of electronic components and his idea for significantly improving eddy current testing using the then new microprocessor technology.
More than 30 years and many successful ideas later, his ibg Group has developed into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of eddy current instruments for non-destructive testing (NDT).

Whether the Preventive Multi-Frequency Technology evaluation in structural testing, the Simultaneous Harmonic Analysis iSHA, the temperature-adaptive structure test iTAS, the automatic tolerance zone generation or multi-channel testing in the crack and grinder burn test:
Thanks to our constant innovation and technological leadership, many world leading industrial companies, including those from the automotive sector entrust us with the realisation of their test tasks. We are thereby driven by our motto “customer obsession”, which best describes our focus on your specific requirements and the search for the perfect solution.
Our product range includes, the most advanced digital test instrument family in the market for eddy current testing, as well as purpose designed complete test systems from simple mechanical arrangements to highly complex fully automated high speed in-line testing systems.
From a single source – a sophisticated turnkey solution perfectly suited to exactly meet your test needs and specification.
Fields of eddy current testing
Crack detection with eddy current: Testing for cracks, pores and other surface defects as well as for grinder burns.
Magnetic inductive structure test: Testing for parameters such as material mix, surface hardness, hardness depth, hardness profile, annealing, core strength, soft spots, cast structure, ledeburite, nodular cast iron, decarburisation and many others.
